AI radio trainer for flight schools

Radio practice at your home field.

Your students talk to ATC out loud, at your own airport, and get graded call by call the way an instructor would. They arrive at the plane already knowing what to say.

Why schools use it

Mic fright costs flight time.

Students who freeze on the radio burn expensive Hobbs time learning phraseology in the air. HomeField moves that practice to the ground, where it costs a fraction as much.

Talk out loud, for real

Students key the mic and say the call. HomeField listens, replies like the controller and keeps the flight moving.

Graded like a CFI would

Every call is checked piece by piece: who you're calling, who you are, where you are, what you want. Hold-short readbacks are always checked first.

A debrief that teaches

After each flight, students see their top habits to fix, with the exact call where it happened and a one-line correction.

How it works

A full flight, start to finish.

Not isolated flashcards. Students fly a continuous session the way a real lesson goes, changing frequencies themselves and copying the ATIS by listening.

  1. Copy the ATISListen to the broadcast and note the information code, winds and active runway. It changes every time.
  2. Call Ground and taxiRequest taxi, read back the route and every hold-short instruction.
  3. Switch to Tower and departTune the right frequency yourself. Transmit on the wrong one and nobody answers, just like the real thing.
  4. Come back and landReport inbound from the practice area, enter the pattern and taxi back to parking.
  5. DebriefScore by call, top habits to fix, and what to say next time.
The HomeField difference

Built around your airport, not a generic one.

Other radio trainers teach at somebody else's field. HomeField builds your home airport in, so students rehearse the exact calls, taxiways and practice area they'll use on their next lesson.

FAA

Built from official FAA data

Runways, frequencies, field elevation and towered or non-towered operations come straight from FAA airport data and diagrams.

Your local details, added

A short onboarding form captures what public data can't: your ramp, usual taxi routes, practice area and local habits.

CFI-approved, always current

One of your instructors signs off before students fly it, and it refreshes automatically with each 28-day FAA data cycle.

Plans are sized by active students: anyone who flew at least one practice flight that month. Graduates who stop flying stop counting automatically.

FAQ

Questions schools ask.

How do students get access?

Your school gets its own invite link. Each student creates a personal login, so progress and debriefs stay with them. One login works on one device at a time.

What counts as an "active student"?

Anyone who flew at least one practice flight that month. Students who sign up but don't practice don't count toward your plan.

What happens if our school grows during the year?

There's a built-in 10% buffer, so a few extra students never cause a problem. If you stay above it for two months in a row, we'll let you know and move you up a plan for the rest of the year, charged only for the remaining months. At renewal, your plan matches your actual size. We never shut students out mid-year for growing.

What about students who graduate or stop training?

They stop counting automatically once they stop flying. Accounts with no activity for 90 days are released, and your admin can remove students at any time.

What if the microphone mishears a student?

Students see exactly what HomeField heard. If the mic got it wrong, they can retry with no penalty, or type the call instead. A quick mic check runs before each flight.

Does it work at non-towered airports?

Yes. HomeField handles towered fields and non-towered (CTAF) fields, and includes a training airport for basics and demos.

Does it replace instruction or count toward flight time?

No. HomeField is a practice aid that supplements instruction from a certificated flight instructor. It is not FAA-approved training and does not log flight or ground time.

What do we need to install?

Nothing. It runs in a modern web browser on a laptop, tablet or phone with a microphone.
